Hello
My name is aydin, i’m a technician, and certified from ymgf ( yamaha music gebel ali freezone, dubai)
Thanks for your very useful video,
I am using this app
But i did not understand the 3rd part of the graphs 📈 ( at the end of the video) , that why we should play some sample notes for begin the tuning ?
And why we lock the _ ear botton_ ??
How does it help??
And how does it look like, the graph of harmonic phase , when the string is fine tuned?I appreciate your time.

You sample notes at the beginning of the tuning to measure the “inharmonicity” and calculate a tuning curve (stretch). Before measuring any notes the tuning just has a generic stretch.
You lock the tuning with the ear button to prevent it from recalculating (based on more measurements) so it the tuning targets don’t change during a fine tuning.
When a string is in tune, the spinning strobe rings will stop turning. And the needle should point to zero.

This is a great app. Thanks for putting it together. I tune about 5 pianos per week. Good, clear instructions, too. Thanks again.
